Engineering Your Vision
Barett is a mechanical engineer and the founder of Contrive Design Innovations, where he helps companies integrate modern engineering tools—industrial 3D printing, professional 3D scanning, and advanced design workflows—into their product development and manufacturing processes.
He began his career in the automotive performance industry, applying his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering to the Mazdaspeed enthusiast market. Through hands-on product development and manufacturing, Barett developed deep expertise in CAD modeling, mechanical design, and reverse engineering. His ability to solve complex mechanical challenges and turn them into reliable production components helped the Mazda performance company he supported double in size and introduce several innovative products to the community.
After nearly a decade working within traditional manufacturing workflows, Barett shifted his focus toward modern production technologies. By combining high-temperature additive manufacturing with advanced 3D scanning, he began developing faster and more flexible engineering workflows that allow businesses to rapidly prototype, reverse engineer components, and produce specialized parts without the long lead times of conventional manufacturing.
Today, Barett works with businesses across multiple industries to implement additive manufacturing and digital engineering tools within their operations. His work spans engineering design, reverse engineering, and advanced manufacturing projects, including applications in the automotive industry and historic aerospace restoration—where precision engineering and modern technology help preserve and reproduce legacy components with exceptional accuracy.
